The story begins in the early 1900s with the founding of the New Balance Arch Support Company in Boston, Massachusetts by William J. Riley. The company was dedicated to the development of shoes with orthopaedic insoles. In 1934, Riley took on Arthur Hall as a partner and sales manager. Hall began to focus sales of orthopaedic footwear on professionals who were on their feet all day and therefore in great need of optimised comfort.
In 1954, William J. Riley was no longer able to manage the company, so Arthur Hall decided to sell New Balance to his daughter Eleanor and her son-in-law, Paul Kidd. It was this committed couple who gave the company a new direction, radically transforming it. In 1961, a high-performance running shoe with a notched sole and a range of widths was introduced under the name Trackster. A revolution in the field of basketball that spread to many American universities such as MIT and Boston University, where the trainers were immediately adopted by their cross country teams.
After several successful years, the couple Eleanor and Paul sold the company in 1972 to a certain Jim Davis. He then took over the company New Balance and made it evolve more and more in the field of running. A phenomenal boom in this sport, with the New York Marathon in the 1970s, literally propelled the company to world fame. It must be said that the shoes signed New Balance will be visible on a large number of athletic feet. But the brand gave itself the means to achieve success by paying particular attention to its products, which were developed with unparalleled quality requirements.
Following several setbacks during the 80s and 90s in the manufacture of sports trainers and the fact that the brand illegitimately applied a "Made in USA" certification to shoes designed in Asia, New Balance was able to take the opposite direction in the 2000s by revisiting vintage shoes, always taking particular care in the development of these reinterpretations.
The New Balance has managed to keep its number one position in the running world while successfully imposing itself in the locker rooms of aficionados around the world. New Balance has surrounded itself with the best partners such as: "APC, Eric Haze , LAMJC , Colette, Stussy , Fiberops , Mad trepidante, Rezoh , Crooked Tongues" and many others.
Vintage style iterations such as the 576 developed in England, or the 991 which became popular thanks to Steve Jobs until the New Balance 9060.
The origins of the New Balance 9060
Following the 2021 Protection Pack, New Balance's designer Yue Wu, footwear, has come up with a brand new profile with retro futuristic influences!
New Balance is quite proud to offer this brand new creation, the 9060, a design that has been heavily inspired by the 99x version launched in the early 2000s as well as the brand's history of increasing efficiency.
The New Balance 9060 sneaker takes various customary elements from previous versions and reapplies them in a much more fashionable and attractive approach. The new design, with the iconic N logo in full view, magnifies the technology found in the 990 and in running shoes such as the 860 released in the early 2000s.
This sneaker is built on a midsole that is more eccentric than the models it was heavily inspired by.
The atypical trainer is dressed with various other unique design features, such as a large, translucent and relevant "U" logo on the back of the trainer in the heel area, which provides a stable footing. Other innovative features of the New Balance 9060 include the badge on the tongue, the outsole in the unique and striking shape of a diamond and an opening in the heel. Indeed, what makes the New Balance 9060 sneaker so special is its architectural and rugged ABZORB chunky inspired sole.
This newest iteration is wrapped in a high quality suede leather upper in a smiling grey colour, but also has a mesh pattern cleverly applied to various parts of the trainer, giving it a sophisticated high-end design. The entire design is enhanced by soft beige brushed suede inserts, subtly layered like a 990. White laces complete the futuristic design.
This beautiful sneaker comes in Baby Shower Blue and Penny Cookie Pink by designer Joe Freshgoods. This innovative model will undoubtedly please many aficionados of the brand! Other colour shades will be introduced in 2022.
Offered to the public through a partnership with Joe Freshgoods, the new New Balance 90/60, this innovative hybrid model combining various elements of the 990 version as well as other elements borrowed from the 860, is making its way to success with the intention of taking a privileged place within the collection of products of the century-old brand based in Boston.
Like other brands, New Balance has an abundance of powerful archives that allow it to have a truly comprehensive roster.
Different vintage pairs and new arrivals are constantly merging to satisfy the older New Balance community as well as the brand's newest and most diehard fans. The previous year, it was with the 57/40 version, reinventing the 574 profile, in an innovative and more robust iteration, that New Balance got the nod. In 2022, the NB 9060 model will make its entrance to satisfy the many aficionados as well!
