Jordan Flight Club 91
Der Air Jordan Flight Club 91 ist ein Sneaker mit einem Design, das stark vom Jordan 6 beeinflusst ist und in der Farbe der kalifornischen Franchise gehalten ist.
Origin and history of the Jordan Flight Club 91
According to the 2021 sales report ranking, Jordan Brand would be in first place, and it started 2002 on the same footing. With Michael Jordan now 59 years old and no less than 35 years of dedication to the brand and its relentless new model launches, the Jumpman Brand has masterfully combined innovation and heritage, including with the Jordan Flight Club 91.
While the Jordan Brand as it currently stands began in the '97s, the very first Air Jordan models were seen on Michael Jordan's feet on the NBA's famous floors in 1984.
And while versions like the Air Jordan 1 High or Air Jordan 4 are the most popular and recognised today, the Jordan Brand powerhouse has a history of defining origins.
So let's take a look at the history of Jordan Brand, the brand that changed the world of basketball forever.
The year 1984, the rise of "His Airness
In 1984, just before signing his first sponsorship contract with the famous Nike brand, Michael Jordan saw Converse Chuck Taylor 70s on his feet and replied that he preferred the German brand Adidas.
The 21-year-old basketball player played in a tournament in a pair of Adidas Forum shoes, but he turned to the Beaverton-based company for his first contract. The terms of the contract were very attractive for Michael Jordan, who was offered no less than 2.5 million dollars over a period of 5 years, the foundation of his clothing line and a collection of trainers as well as royalties on each sale.
And so the story begins with the Air Jordan 1, created by the famous designer Peter Moore. Following the huge success of the Air Jordan 1, the iterations did not cease each year with precisely the launches of the Air Jordan 2 signed by Peter Moore and Kilgore in the years 86, the Air Jordan 3 and 4, creations of Tinker Hatfield in 1988 and 1989.
In fact, Jordan's history and success was built on the many achievements of the basketball player on the court, who was awarded a large number of trophies. The Jordan Flight Club 91 was introduced much later.
1997, the Jordan Brand Foundation
It wasn't until 1997 that Jordan Brand was recognised as a completely separate entity from Nike. Michael Jordan, known for his iconic quote "Republicans buy sneakers too", would now be more involved in the development of his own brand, anchoring his legendary position and approaching this strategic shift with confidence.
Production of Air Jordan 1s will cease immediately after his retirement from the sport in 2003, and will resume thereafter with limited versions.
The Air Jordan 5
The Air Jordan 5 is a version of a sports basketball that was released in early 1990. It is the fifth iteration by Michael Jordan, hence the name. Its original design has been able to brilliantly cross the different decades and remains a model that sneaker fans and collectors of the brand are particularly fond of.
This mythical version created by the coveted designer Tinker Hatfield has been revisited many times. The sneaker is available in vintage colours and in remarkable partnerships with different colour combinations that are sometimes quite stunning and can also be found on the Jordan Flight Club 91.
The Air Jordan 6
The Jordan 6, which celebrated 23 years with the brand in 2014, is one of the most iconic sneakers that Jordan himself wore during his first NBA victory over Magic Johnson's Lakers.
The Air Jordan 6 is undoubtedly one of the most fan-favourite sneakers of the brand's 23 versions. Launched in 1991, the Jordan 6 is an evolutionary version of the Jordan 5 and the fourth sneaker imagined and created by designer Tinker Hatfield, which eventually led to the creation of the Jordan Flight Club 91.
The styling influence replicates various elements borrowed from the Jordan 5, such as the icey sole for example, but also other elements, such as the integral Huarache sock that will also be seen on the Jordan 7.
Since the launch of the Air Jordan 3, designer Tinker Hatfield has been inspired by models that remind him of his Airness in terms of the look of the trainer and the technical level. For the Air Jordan 6, Michael Jordan wanted a more cleanly styled version because he particularly liked the thinness of the Italian shoes, which were constructed from a single material and a single panel, which he considered the world standard. When you look at the design more closely, you notice that the different yokes outline a 2 and a 3 on the side. This is much more noticeable on the outside of the right shoe.
The Air Jordan Flight Club 91
And then we come to the actual Jordan Flight Club 91 sneaker, the Air Jordan Flight Club 91, with a strong Jordan 6 influence in design, dressed in the California franchise colorway.
"The Jordan Brand is making a big splash by celebrating the Lakers, the Bulls' opponents in the 1991 Finals, who led Michael Jordan and the Illinois franchise to their first NBA championship. The Jordan Flught Club 91 is symbolic of this.
The design of the Jordan Flight Club 91 is rather sober with a white upper made of leather and synthetic, the whole is contrasted by "Purple-and-Gold" accents, affixed on the heel strap, various areas of the midsole but also on the tongue and logos. A price tag of $130.
